Circulation Pump
The circulation pump is the heart of the filtration system. It is plumbed into the pipe work system and draws water from the swimming pool basin. Isolating valves are used to determine what flow of water is pulled from which part of the pool basin.
Water is then directed into the sand filtter via the Multiport Valve, which controls the flow around the filter vessel. The pump needs to be sized to carry out the duty required for each individual situation. This will take account of the max flow rate the filter can cope with, and the number and size of pipes and fittings connecting the filtration equipment with the pool Basin.
There are standard packages of pumps and filters that work well together.
Submersible Pumps
These are useful if you need to pump out a pool, pond or anything that is flooded with water. They include and electrical cable that has a waterproof joint with the pump, and the whole unit is placed in the water.
Units are available that pump continuously, or the units that have float switches fitted, will stop pumping once the water level drops to a minimum level.
